It was a weekend like no other, after a series of weekends like every other. (Confused much?)
FRIDAY
- Now this is the start of a weekend that was like any other. As always, A and I didn't make plans so we just decided to go home to my place and finish the stacks of DVDs that have yet to be seen. Unfortunately, the attempt was unsuccessful because A and I found dvds of
Star Wars 4: A New Hope and
Star Wars 5: The Empire Strikes Back, both movies I haven't watched. (I know... shame on me!)
SATURDAY
- Ah, a big day was ahead of us. On Saturday, A and I have been together for 2 years and six months. And we decided to celebrate another milestone in our life together by taking the little boys (aka my little brothers Judo, Don and Xavi) to watch
Madagascar.
- The day started with me not wanting to get out of bed yet but I knew I had to, as usual. So I showered, got dressed, rushed to the office to prepare the checks for the bands performing in our branches the following week so the checks could be sent to the branches on time (This is the only reason why I go to the office on Saturdays). After 45 minutes, I left the office and drove almost maniacally home to pick up the boys.
- A and I and the noisy brat pack head to Eastwood.
- Here is where it gets nasty: Aside from keeping an eye on all three boys who kept zipping in and out the crowd despite telling them endlessly to just stand by the table, I had to buy popcorn and drinks for all of them.
- A and I wanted Big Chill's Mango Strawberry shake so both of us headed to the stall but telling the boys first to wait for us at the table with their yaya (nanny), Cecille. Thinking that Cecille already had her hands full with Judo and Don and that Xavi would definitely run after us if we left, I decided to carry Xavi and bring him with us.
- When we got to the stall, A ordered our drink. Xavi starts kissing me on the cheek and after telling him, he gives A a peck on the cheek as well (cute!). Xavi was getting heavy so I decided to put him down. He starts pointing to my crotch area and asks me, thankfully not out loud, if I have a 'birdie' (not cute!).
- I carry him again and take him to see the cut out standees of Madagascar characters and bump into Judo who was talking to the brother of his classmate (so much for telling him to stay at the table). I walk back to the table only to find Don just about to leave the table.
- I put Xavi down. He starts jumping up because he wants me to carry him again and in the process of jumping, he knocks Don's drink out of his hands, and almost in slow motion, we watch the drink tumble into the air, messily landing on the floor, creating a puddle of Sprite. I put my hands on my hips and look down at Xavi and sternly say, "What are we going to do now? Kuya Don doesn't have a drink anymore. What are we going to do, Xavi?" He looks up at me, partially embarrassed and then realized something and sternly voices out his realization. He, with eyebrows knit together and pointing a finger at me, says "You are not mommy!" (Uhh, what do I say to that?!)
- I line up again and get a drink for Don.
- By the time, I get his drink, it was time for us to go to the theater. Don comes up to me and says the cover of his plastic cup is loose. I fix it, but it kept coming off. So I tell him to just hold on to the lid. After 1 second, I heard a crack. When I looked at Don, he was holding on to his cup with its contents pouring out. I grab the cup and run to the counter to have the cup replaced and in the process, exasperately say, "Don!!! You're so malas!!!" I couldn't believe the series of unfortunate events was happening!
- As I was asking for the lady behind the counter for a new cup to transfer what was left (just less than one fourth of the cup!) and partially feeling sorry for Don, Don kept tugging on my top and asking me "Cat! What's 'malas'? What's 'malas'?" I don't remember if I ever answered him. Thankfully, the lady behind the counter gave him a new cup, filled to the brim.
- We trodded off to the cinema but not without me telling Judo to fix the string of his jacket. He says he doesn't want to because he likes to twirl the string as if it was a lasso.
- We finally settled on our seats and watched the previews. I placed Xavi on my lap so he could reach into the popcorn bucket which A and I were sharing. Of course, I didnt notice that he was using both hands to eat the popcorn and so sometimes he used my jeans to wipe his hands.
- At last, the movie starts and I thought that there would be peace and quiet. But nooooo! Less than 30 minutes into the movie, Xavi stands up and asks if the movie is going to end soon. He says he wants to go out. (Oh no!) Thankfully, A grabs Xavi so he could sit on his lap (Xavi sits on A's lap, not the other way around!)
- In the middle of the movie, Judo calls out my name. I lean forward (as he is seated at the row in front of me with Don and Yaya Cecille) and he tells me that his jacket string is stuck on the seat! (Great! And I mean that sarcastically!)
- After the movie, we go to the restrooms only to find them filled. Thank God the boys held out! I was scared that Xavi won't hold it and just go on the rest room floor!
- We ride the car and finally head home. The boys are rowdy in the car. Somewhere along Katipunan, Judo thinks of a brilliant idea! Whoever stays quiet the longest wins! Of course, they shut up but they wave their arms incessantly, occasionally tapping me on the shoulder to point out that that they were quiet. I declared that Yaya Cecille wins because she hasnt spoken since we left Eastwood.
- Upon entering the gate of the townhouse complex, Xavi suddenly says, "Thank you!" (It was just so sweet!)
- I discovered that with the rascals gone, my parents took the opportunity to relax and called in a masseuse.
- While waiting for the food to be prepared, I accompanied A at the parking shed across our apartment for his much needed smoke. Despite hiding from the boys (because we didn't want them to see A smoking) and the rain, they still ran to us, wanting to hang out with us. They were so hyper and naughty! A and I were pretty tired. I realized that every time we take them out, we always get tired and stressed out but we still take them out anyway.
- A didn't really want to eat at home (I think that despite being together for 2 years and a half, he's still shy about eating at my house) but I convinced him. Thank God the roast pork with mushroom gravy and lasagna was hella good and he loved it!
- Mom Marivic prepares fondue (with marshmallows, Fudgee Barr cake and bananas). The boys, mom, A and I enjoy the chocolate despite the mess the boys were making.
- The boys play with A for awhile. I just sit there and reply to work related text messages.
- After the boys go up to take a bath, A collapses on the sofa beside me and we both utter one word blissfully, "Peace".
- A and I decide to go out and have quality time together.
-We come back home at around 2am, passing by Tia Maria Cantina to order Stuffed Quesadillas for me and a Burito for him. We watch Season 10 episodes of Friends.
SUNDAY
- I wake up to A's messages telling me to wake up. I still didn't want to as I always love spending my Sundays sleeping the day away.
- Finally, I get up and meet A at the Fort. While waiting for him, I decide to go around the night market which opened at 3pm.
- We decide to attend mass first before heading to Glorietta for some shopping. Me, in search of black high- heeled office shoes, and him, a list of things he needs for his trip to Malaysia.
- When we got to Glorietta, we decided to have an early dinner. Both of us were sleepy and needed the energy. We eat at Super Bowl of China where we ordered a Super Combination Platter and Yang Chow Fried Rice. Aside from the platter, we considered ordering another dish. Good thing we decided not to go for it! We could barely finish the platter alone!
- After dinner, we went separate ways as we had individual shopping missions and we were pressed for time. I thought we had two hours to shop! I didn't know that the mall closed at 8pm on a Sunday!
- We went back to the Fort to pick up A's car. At the night market, I picked up two long sleeved blouses for work and this long sleeved capelet/ knit cardigan top that only comes up to your midriff (I don't know what you call it! Basta it's 'in' now and you wear it over a spaghetti strapped top and I see it all the time on The OC!)
- We convoy to my house where we watch more episodes of Friends and finish a bag of Lays Barbecue.
And that was my weekend. (Whew!)
